Nancy has organized successful press conferences with Boston Mayor
Thomas Menino, Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy, Governor Deval Patrick, Attorney General Martha Coakley, Jesse Jackson, Boston Police Commissioners Kathleen O’Toole and Ed Davis, and numerous Massachusetts lawmakers. In 2004, Nancy toured the country, meeting survivors, activists and local leaders in more than
50 cities as part of a national campaign to prevent gun violence. Nancy co-chaired
a national communications committee to promote a rally in Washington, DC and
organized a blitz of 20 press conferences in 10 states within a five-week period. She also organized a private meeting with gun violence prevention advocates to discuss
gun policy with Governor Howard Dean during his presidential primary campaign and planned the first Massachusetts legislative roundtable on illegal gun trafficking. Nancy has written articles for the U.S. Conference of Mayors and has been quoted in the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, L.A. Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and other leading
news organizations. She helped create Marching Orders, a newsletter for activists
which continues to go out to communities across the country.
Professional Profile: Nancy holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont with a double major in American History and political philosophy, and has
done substantial work toward a Master’s Degree in political philosophy at McGill University. She was the marketing director for two Canadian ski resorts and was
