Closing the 'iron pipeline' of gun sales

James O'Brien Senior Reporter, Boston Now

The founder of Massachusetts Against Trafficking Handguns yesterday declared the rebirth of a citizen anti-gun-violence group dating back to the darkest days - and subsequent Boston Miracle reduction - of gang violence in the 1990s.

Nancy Robinson said Citizens for Safety - part of the activism that reduced Boston gun homicides in the 1990s by 70 percent - is back.

The goal, Robinson said, "is to shut off the "iron pipeline that deliberately delivers guns into the hands of the people we all agree shouldn't have them."

Robinson said Citizen for Safety workshops would teach residents how police track violent crime guns and shift focus from the shooting to the "original criminal transaction."
